Within the scope of this project financed by our university’s own resources; the staff of Faculty of Fine Arts from many art disciplines have discovered new expression possibilities by working together. Within the scope of these studies, murals were applied to the faculty buildings and transformers in the campus area, sculptures and aesthetic seating areas were produced at the meeting points. Artistic works promoting our cultural assets were featured at the busiest points of our campuses in various regions of İzmir or at the meeting points with the city.
Nowadays, universities, which are the production centers of science and art, are defined as a model of public space with their large campuses. At the international level, both universities and many innovative, entrepreneurial, technological institutions design science, art and production centers and increase the visibility of the knowledge and experience they produce.
As an example of public space, works of art have been playing an important role in the design of campus spaces. There is a greater need for works of art that will provoke creativity in these environments. It is an important step to include artistic and plastic elements while designing the campus environment, where we are in constant interaction with internal/external stakeholders.
With this project, which was implemented in the light of all these determinations, it was important to equip the campus area with artistic elements, to reinforce the corporate identity and sense of belonging, which is one of the main aims of the project, and to create a new campus model. In addition, the way to increase cultural and social richness by equipping campus areas with visual plastic elements is also through artistic production.
With the foresight that increasing the cultural and artistic environments will bring vitality, dynamism and mobility to the Tınaztepe campus, it was aimed to create meeting points that will pave the way for entrepreneurial and new ideas, strengthen communication, and breed and nurture interdisciplinary interaction.
With this project, the campus area had turned into an open-air museum full of original works and contribute to cultural accumulation. In addition, it had served as a starting point for the creation of our university’s artworks inventory with works of national and international value. All these achievements had increased the visibility, originality and modernity of our university and raise it to an international dimension.
