OPEN AIR ART WORKS IN PUBLIC SPACE

KHARKIV STATE ACADEMY OF DESIGN AND ARTS MURALS PROJECTS FOR DOKUZ EYLÜL UNIVERSITY

In the event called “Open Air Art Studies in the Public Space”, organized under the title of “Art and Design Student Meeting within the scope of the 40th Anniversary Celebrations of the Foundation of Dokuz Eylül University”, supported by both the Culture Industries Support Program for the Future Youths of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Scientific Research Projects Coordinatorship of Dokuz Eylül University, students came up with innovative models in the field of cultural industries and developed their skills. Mural works were carried out in designated places at Campus with the cooperation of Kharkiv State and Design Academy and Dokuz Eylül University.

The project includes the Mural works carried out in partnership with the Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Art “Department of Monumental Painting” KSADA (KHARKIV – UKRAINE) and the Faculty of Fine Arts, within the framework of international academic cooperation of Dokuz Eylül University.

Academics of Monumental Painting Department, Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Art, gave project assignments to their students in their classes on the subject of public space mural painting at the fall semester of the year of 2021, and many designs were produced for the walls on the campus by Ukrainian students.

Under the conditions of the current war between Ukraine and Russia and the pandemic affecting the whole world, it was decided by the administrative of our university to implement four designs among the self-sacrificing works of Ukrainian students under the supervision of Ukrainian academicians.

In this project it has been aimed to develop the skills of young people between the ages of 16-29 to produce creative products / works of art with innovative models in the field of cultural industries.

Ukrainian students came to İzmir/Turkey as part of the project.

In the project, handmade cloth toys were produced by using excess production and usage, toxic substances, anti-allergic and antibacterial “OCS” certified (Textile Processed According to the Organic Content Standard) fabrics provided by Akar Tekstil. It was brought together with children who were treated in Dokuz Eylül University Children’s Hospital Oncology Service on April 27, 2023.

Within the scope of the project, it was seen that educational rag dolls, which were brought together with children who continue to be treated in DEU Children’s Hospital Oncology Service, supported the purpose of the project.

ONLINE DIPLOMA THESIS DEFENSE

International Defense Of Undergraduate Projects

Defense of bachelors of the Department of Monumental Painting of the KSADA, 2022. This is the first experience of performing murals commissioned by a foreign institution – Dokuz Eylül University in Izmir (Turkey); the first experience of our students working abroad and defending their thesis online with the participation of Turkish colleagues. Yana Nazarenko (Izmir), Valery Polyushko (Lviv, Ukraine), Alisa Hellberg (Tallinn, Estonia) defended their thesis. 5th ART FAIR

The event, which has been held four times since 2017 within the Faculty of Fine Arts of Dokuz Eylul University, will be held in 2022 with the "5th Art Fair” was held as part of the “Art and Design Student Meeting Within the Scope of the 40th Anniversary Celebrations of Dokuz Eylül University” project.

The event started with an open-air fair and continued with workshops during the week of May 23-27, 2022. Within the scope of the event, students at DEU Tınaztepe Campus had the opportunity to interact with each other through workshops, product sales, music concerts, etc. “5th Art Fair”, with the participation of DEU Faculty of Fine Arts students, created a platform where artistic works and design products were created for the cultural industry of our country, and these products were exhibited and offered for sale.

In addition, 7 of the 13 educational workshops, which continued at intervals for 8 (eight) months, took place in the spring semester of the 2021-2022 academic year and 6 in the fall semester of the 2022-2023 academic year. In addition to being an incentive for students to provide their own employment, the fair event was also a source of inspiration for other young people on DEU Tınaztepe Campus, while providing access to cultural objects for those interested as art-loving individuals.

XIXth YOUNG BRAIN STORMING INTERNATIONAL GRAPHIC DESIGN DAYS

LEAVING THE 19th YEAR BEHIND

The Young Brainstorm graphic design event, which has been organized for nineteen years, has come to this day by developing with the devoted work of the faculty members of the Department of Graphics and the contributions made by our university. This year, the 19th Young Brainstorm met with art and design students within the scope of the “Gelecek Gençlerin” Cultural Industries Support Program implemented by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the 40th Anniversary Celebrations of
Dokuz Eylül University.

While it was initially a one-day activity, with the 6th Young Brainstorming,
it has turned into a one-week graphic design/art days event that includes competitions, workshops, seminars, and portfolio presentations.

Since the beginning of the event, countless academicians, designers, illustrators, graphic print artists, and art and design faculties of universities have contributed to this event. Thank you to everyone who has contributed.

Both the students of the graphic department and students from other universities found the opportunity to meet the world of design and art with workshops, exhibitions, seminars, and portfolio presentations by our participants. Young Brainstorming activity outside the classroom or
the classroom not only increases the motivation of the students and encourages collaborative work; It offers them unlimited possibilities. Young Brainstorming creates an opportunity not only for our students but also for students from different universities in Turkey to discover their talents and make new friends. Young Brainstorming helps students to have a sense of responsibility in extracurricular activities, to find a thinking strategy, and to develop their problem-solving skills; It allows them to gain experience while they are still learning for their future professional life.

In conclusion, the annual Young Brainstorming event should be seen as a platform where students can prepare themselves for the multifaceted and diverse roles they will assume in their future lives.
